The interior of The Old Manor House boasts historic charm, creating the ideal venue for smaller, more intimate weddings. With exclusive use of the hotel, we can accommodate up to 55 day guests for a ceremony followed by a homemade 3 course wedding breakfast, cooked to perfection by our kitchen team, and 120 evening guests for a ploughman’s buffet and disco!

We have multiple areas licensed to hold the ceremony itself, including our quaint restaurant area and charming ballroom. If you are planning a summer wedding, our hotel garden can transform into a stunning ceremony space also.

General information for before, during, and after your day

Booking Your Ceremony

You will need to contact BANES council to book your ceremony. The best number to reach them on is 01225 477 234. Once you have booked your ceremony time, we can start planning your special day.

Deposit & Payment

A non-refundable deposit of £250.00 is required to secure your booking and final payment is due four weeks prior to the date.

A valid credit/debit card is required to be held against the rooms. Your guests can pay for the rooms separately when they check out.

Your deposit will be refunded to you when you leave the hotel the following day, providing no house rules have been broken. Both parties will be asked to sign to say they have read and understood the house rules in one of the meetings prior to the wedding day

Maximum Numbers & Exclusivity

To ensure exclusivity of the hotel, nine rooms would have to be booked by your guests at a double occupancy rate. This gives you exclusivity of the whole hotel from an hour prior to your ceremony (or wedding breakfast if you are not holding the ceremony with us). The hotel is closed to the general public until 10:30am the following day when your guests check out.

You will be advised a time that your evening guests can arrive from once your ceremony time has been booked.

Maximum Numbers without Exclusivity

Day & Evening – 40

This number is based on having a buffet and DJ in the room in the evening, the maximum number we can accommodate would increase if you don’t have either one of these things because it creates extra space in the room.

Pre Order Deadlines 

Canapes – We need a list of the canapes that you require (if any) and the number we are catering for, 8 weeks before the date of your wedding day. You must also advise whether we need to cater for any allergies or dietary requirements.


Wedding Breakfast Menu – The 9 dishes to create your menu will be required 12 weeks before the wedding day. Once we have your 9 dishes, you will be sent a finalised menu and a pre order form. The final pre order is then due 8 weeks before the wedding day which gives your guests a month to pre order from the finalised menu.


Buffet Menus – If you have opted for a buffet in the daytime as well as the evening, we require the final number that we are catering for, along with any allergies or dietary
requirements by 8 weeks before your wedding day. The same rules apply for the evening ploughman’s.


The earliest we can advise when you can bring decorations in is the Monday of the week of your wedding, because we won’t know until this point if we have any other functions beforehand.

Loose balloons
Photos etc being stuck to the painted walls.
Failure to comply may result in additional charges.

If you are having a sit-down wedding breakfast rather than a buffet in the day, we require name cards with meal choices on to be out on the tables before the guests arrive. We can either supply these at a total cost of £10.00, or you are welcome to supply them. If you are supplying them, they need to be with us along with a table plan no later than the day before (or whenever you bring decorations etc in). Please note, if we supply the name cards, they would be plain white.

The Ballroom

Set in our historic hotel that dates back to 1609, our ballroom creates a romantic setting for every aspect of your wedding day, accommodating up to 55 guests for a ceremony. Its elegant architecture and timeless charm offer a perfect backdrop for intimate and memorable celebrations, blending history and romance to make your special day truly unforgettable.
